Integrations, the open API and webservice access

How other systems get data out of Profixio: the REST API and the application key it needs, the older SOAP webservice, calendar feeds, the pushes to broadcast and streaming partners, and the national sports-register integrations. Also what Profixio does and does not hide from an API caller.

Profixio is not a closed system. A federation, a district, a club or a supplier working for them can read tournament and series data out of Profixio and, in some cases, write results back. There are five separate ways in, and they are not interchangeable:

  • The REST API — the modern, documented interface. Tournaments, series, classes, matches, results, tables, player statistics, teams, clubs, venues, referees, invoices and payments. This is what almost every new integration should use.
  • The older SOAP webservice — the previous generation. Still running and still supported, but deprecated: new integrations should not start there.
  • Calendar feeds — a subscription link that puts matches straight into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. No API key needed.
  • Live pushes to partners — for some federations Profixio pushes live match events to a broadcast, graphics or streaming partner as the secretariat types them.
  • Integrations with national sports systems — the Norwegian and Swedish sports registers, which feed people, clubs and licences into Profixio rather than out of it.

What is not available: there is no self-service developer portal, no OAuth app registration and no per-user API token. Access is arranged with Profixio, and Profixio issues the key.

The REST API, the SOAP webservice, calendar feeds and the rate limits work the same for everyone. The partner integrations do not — each is switched on for named federations:

  • Live pushes to a broadcast and streaming partner: Swedish basketball, Swedish handball including beach handball, and Norwegian football.
  • The Genius Sports data exchange: Swedish basketball only.
  • Norwegian national sports register: sign-in with the national sports identity, club and district imports, licence checks and privacy reservations, for Norwegian federations. Norwegian rugby and Norwegian football have their own scheduled imports.
  • Swedish member data: a separate pipeline for Swedish federations, described on its own page.
  • E-mailing referee invoices to an economy system: available to any federation that registers an address, but it is a federation decision whether to use it.

Beyond that, what data exists at all depends on what the federation actually runs in Profixio. Player statistics only come back where statistics are switched on for the class, and referee data only where refereeing is administered in Profixio. That is federation practice, not something the API enforces.

  • The settings that decide what the public may see — hiding a match, a class or an entire programme. See Hiding matches, schedules and results from the public. Those settings govern the public pages; how the API behaves against them is described above.
  • Live results, streaming a match and adding a match to your own calendar step by step. See Live results, live feeds and streaming.
  • Swedish member and club data from the national register. See Swedish member data synchronisation.
  • The Profixio app, its push notifications and favourites. See The Profixio app.
  • Invoicing teams, online payment and payouts as processes. See Invoicing teams, Online payment and Payouts and settlements. This page only covers reading invoices and payments from outside.
  • Reading bank files and matching incoming payments. See Reading bank files and matching payments.
