Hiding matches, schedules and results from the public

Hiding matches, schedules and results from the public

Profixio has four independent switches that decide whether a match, a whole match programme, or a result is visible to the public: a tournament-level switch, a class-level result/table switch, a class lock, and a per-match hide. This page explains what each one hides, who can still see through it, and where to change it.

Looking for something else? Referee setup: assigning, publishing and restoring referees on matches

Profixio lets an organiser hide parts of a competition from the public without deleting anything. Four things can be hidden independently:

  • The whole match programme of a tournament. Nobody outside the organiser team sees any fixtures, results or tables.
  • Results and standings for one class. Fixtures stay visible, but scores, winners and league tables are blanked out.
  • A whole class. The class and its fixtures disappear from the public match list.
  • A single match. One fixture is removed from public view — used for cancelled matches, drafts, and matches waiting to be scheduled.

These are separate switches on separate levels, and they do not clear each other. A match can be hidden for several reasons at once, so turning one switch off does not guarantee the match appears.

What is never hidden by these switches: the tournament itself (its name, dates and registration pages), teams and clubs. Hiding a match hides it from the lists people browse — it is not a security control. If something must be genuinely confidential, do not put it in a match.

Who sees what. "Yes" means the match or result is shown; "No" means it is filtered away.

The app and the newer public pages apply the strictest rules and do not open up for admins: an admin browsing the app sees exactly what the public sees.

Common reports and what they usually mean.

"The tournament has no matches at all." The organiser has not published the match programme yet. Only the organiser can change this; the fixtures may well be finished behind the scenes.

"I can see the fixtures but never any scores." Results are hidden for that class on purpose. This is normally a deliberate choice for younger age groups. The scores exist and are registered — they are just not shown publicly.

"There is no league table for our class." The table is hidden for that class. If playoff fixtures in the same class say Not decided instead of naming teams, that is the same setting: naming them would give the standings away.

"Our match disappeared." In a series, most likely it is waiting for your club to set time and venue, or the deadline has been set and the match is temporarily hidden from the public. It will reappear once scheduled or once the deadline passes. In a tournament, the organiser has hidden it, or the class is closed while the draw is being changed.

"I can see it when I am logged in but my parents cannot." You hold a role that sees past one of the switches. Check the page signed out or in a private window before reporting a problem.

"It shows on the website but not in the app." The app is stricter than the website. It never shows hidden matches, closed classes, matches without a time, or matches in a tournament whose programme is unpublished — and it does not open up for admins.
